A ceremony beneath the palms. Jazz drifting across the terrace as daylight faded over the sea. A ballroom glowing with candlelight, waiting for its first dance. For this Miami-based creative couple, a destination wedding in Punta Cana offered the chance to bring their favorite people together in a world shaped around their shared sensibilities.
Their vision combined the elegance of the Caribbean’s golden age with the energy of a great party. At Let’s Drunch, we gave that vision an architectural expression, transforming Puntacana Club into a sequence of settings that unfolded throughout the evening. Drapery framed new perspectives, lighting revealed different dimensions of the venue, and music gave each moment its own rhythm.
The couple’s appreciation for lighting became central to our approach. We considered how each space would feel upon arrival, how it would change as daylight softened, and where guests would gather once night fell. From the first candle to the final reflections of a three-meter disco ball, light shaped the experience.

An Invitation to Discover
The entrance pergola became a candlelit passage, softened by generous drapery and punctuated with sculptural arrangements of tropical plants and flowers. Layers of fabric framed the existing architecture, drawing the eye forward and offering glimpses of what lay beyond.

The passage opened onto the ceremony garden, where the intimacy of the entrance gave way to sky, palms, and the last light of the afternoon. This shift in scale introduced the rhythm of the celebration: each space revealed in its own time.

A Ceremony Rooted in Place

Set within the footprint of the swimming pool that once belonged to Puntacana’s original club, the ceremony garden carried a quiet connection to the destination’s history. Its geometry guided our design. White ottomans formed a symmetrical composition on the lawn, framing a long central aisle that led to a circular platform.
A backdrop of deep green curtains anchored the ceremony. Clean and theatrical, it gave the couple a distinct setting while allowing the surrounding palms and vegetation to frame the scene.

Woven green hand fans and paper parasols awaited the guests—thoughtful comforts for an afternoon outdoors, chosen with the same care as the larger gestures. As a quintet of violinists played, the ceremony moved gently from afternoon into evening, accompanied by a sense of serenity, solemnity, and grace.

The Sea, a Cocktail, and Jazz
Following the ceremony, guests gathered on the terrace overlooking the water. Vintage-style parasols, olive-green linens, and a white bar furnished with table lamps brought the ease of an elegant seaside gathering to the cocktail reception.

As the sky deepened into blue, warm light traced the palm trunks and pools of lamplight formed around the bar. A live jazz band provided the soundtrack. Drinks, conversation, and the sea held the moment, giving guests time to settle into the evening before the next reveal.

A Caribbean Ballroom, Reimagined
Inside, Puntacana Club had become a grand tropical ballroom inspired by the Caribbean’s mid-century dance halls. Double-height curtains emphasized the room’s proportions, while towering palms and suspended lamps brought warmth and intimacy to its scale.

We layered green upon green, working through the textures of fabric, foliage, and table details. Indirect light revealed the folds of the curtains and the silhouettes of the palms. Sculptural floral arrangements introduced a contemporary expression, balancing the nostalgic references with a fresh, confident composition.

Long and round tables created different ways to gather. Wood and cane chairs, glassware, and candles at varying heights gave the dinner setting its warmth. Personalized napkins and coasters carried the couple’s identity into each place setting, while the service team, dressed in white with custom wedding aprons, became part of the room’s visual harmony.
Each guest received a personalized candle in the couple’s favorite scent: a small, intimate expression of their world, and a memory to take home.

A Night Made for Dancing
Roger Zayas’s orchestra set the tone for the first part of the evening. After dinner, the couple stepped onto the dance floor for their first dance, and the three-meter disco ball came to life. Reflections traveled across the curtains, tables, and palms, revealing the ballroom once again.

The DJ carried that momentum into the night. At midnight, dancers in mirror-covered dresses entered the floor with a choreographed performance before joining the guests. Their movements caught the light, extending the sparkle of the disco ball through the crowd.
Two waiters circulated with a vintage bar cart, serving tequila shots as disco-ball-inspired party accessories made their way onto the floor. A shower of confetti filled the room, bringing the celebration to its exuberant peak.

From the ceremony’s quiet anticipation to the shared exhilaration of the dance floor, every transition had been considered. Architecture, hospitality, lighting, and music came together around the couple and the people they had brought to Puntacana. The result was a wedding with a strong sense of place and an unmistakably personal spirit: a Caribbean night entirely their own.
